24 weeks and counting

Ever since I ran my first 5k 1 year ago this past Sunday....I have had the ultimate goal to run a full marathon....26.2 miles....even with last weeks horrific act in Boston is has made even more determined to complete one in honor of those affected by the Boston tragedy

Last year was my beginning year of running....I never thought I would be a runner....I hated it in middle and high school....I thought when my husband had picked it up in VAB he was nuts....that was until I completed my first 5k....the rush you get from competing and crossing the finish line is exhilarating ...having all those people not only cheer for their family or friends but for you as well....but most importantly seeing your family at the finish line is such a high....I have always been a competitive person....I loved swim meets and races back in high school....but as I got older that competitiveness took a back seat to all the responsibilities that come as you become an adult until last year in April when I realized how much fun it was....crossing that finish line in April ignited a fire inside of me to prove to myself that I still have that drive and determination that was there when I was younger.....to prove to myself that if I set a goal no matter how big I can complete it......

Last year I completed two real 5k's and one fun one with the husband....and one big race the TC10 mile last October.....since I was not ready for a full blown marathon yet.....and with all my issues that I went through with my neck last year all the treatment options my surgeon used was to make sure to keep me active and allow me to be able to obtain my goals this year.....

So its 100% official I am registered for the Twin Cities Maraton on October 6th of this year....I have 24 weeks to get my ass in gear for this with the help of Jeff (my personal trainer who has been with me since January).....part of me is excited....but another part of me is scared shitless....but both of these feelings will help fuel me to complete my goal and cross this off my bucket list!
